Unemployed graduates will take to streets across the country today condemning ‘savage attacks’ on Thotalanga residents and university graduates who are currently jobless.

Organized by the Joint Association of Unemployed Graduates, the protest will commence at 10.00 am in Torrington Square in Kandy, the clock tower in Kurunegala, in front of the train station in Galle, near Gandhi Bridge in Batticaloa, in Jaffna city and in Akkaraipattu town. The protest in Kalutara will start at 1.30pm, and in front of the main bus stand in Matara and Independence Avenue in Kegalle the protest is due to be launched at 2.00pm.

The unemployed graduates will also demonstrate against the move by the government to push them to the private sector, while there are 32000 vacancies in state-run institutions and demand for jobs as it is a human right.
