The Parliament will not vote tomorrow evening on the amended proposal for the establishment of a Constitutional Assembly to draft a new constitution.

The debate will be held this afternoon and tomorrow. Parliament will convene tomorrow morning and the vote will not be taken up in the evening.

Prime Minister Ranil Wickramasinghe tabled a resolution on January 9 to convert the Parliament to a Constitutional Assembly composed of all MPs.

However, the government has amended the proposal after considering suggestions from the SLFP members in government, Hiru news learns.
