A Japanese newspaper claims that the decision of Sri Lanka to recommence the Port City Project will have a strong impact on the region’s geo-politics.
The statement was made by a senior journalist in an article published in a popular business newspaper called ‘Nikai’.
According to the article, China will be able to consolidate their power within the region through this project.
Sri Lanka is positioned strategically along an important sea route linking the Asia with Middle East.
Nikai newspaper article further shows that China will be able to take advantage of entering into the marine silk-road through this project.
The Japanese media source further claims that this in turn would make an impact on several countries including Japan, US as well as the South-Eastern countries.
