Tamil Nadu fishermen are preparing to raid the Sri Lankan Deputy High Commissioner’s office in Chennai tomorrow.
They are demanding the release of Indian fishermen who are currently in Sri Lankan remand for poaching.
Leader of the Tamil Nadu Fishermen’s Association, Sesu Raja, told Indian media sources that fishermen from six districts are to take part in the raid and a minimum of 200 fishermen are expected there.
He added that they are awaiting approval from the Chennai Police to stage the protest.
The fishermen have demanded the immediate release of 27 Indian fisherman and 79 boats in Sri Lankan custody.
Meanwhile, Tamil Nadu fishermen have launched a protest by refraining from setting sail since Friday.
