Malaysia is looking at altering the law to allow foreigners to be hired as security guards, Deputy Home Minister Datuk Nur Jazlan Mohamed said.
He added that they will review the 10-year-old policy as the nationwide operations are on way to remove illegals.
“We may have to look at other source countries that have a good supply of security guards with military background, such as Sri Lanka. Formerly, the job was reserved for Nepalis owing to their reputations as Gurkhas,” he said yesterday.
This move came as there are a shortage in the number of Nepali security guards, which in turn has forced companies to hire foreigners.
