Zaman, Turkey’s biggest newspaper, has printed a defiant last edition condemning the move by authorities to take it over, just before the police raided its office.

On its Saturday’s edition the newspaper says that the Turkey press had experienced "one of the darkest days in its history", foreign media reports.

Police raided Zaman’s Istanbul offices following a court ruling that it was now under the state control. Police also had to fire tear gas to disperse its supporters.
