An UPFA executive council meeting will be held this afternoon under the leadership of President Maithripala Sirisena.

The meeting will be held at the Sri Lanka Foundation Institute.

UPFA executive member and former Deputy Minister Shaantha Bandaara said heads of all parties representing the UPFA and parties hoping to join the UPFA would participate in this meeting.

Reports say that the appointment of the new UPFA General Secretary will also take place. The names of five powerful UPFA members have been proposed for the post of general secretary.

They are Ministers Susil Premajayantha, S. B. Dissanayake, Anura Priyadarshana Yapa and Mahinda Amaraweera and State Minister Dilan Perera.
