A dreadful picture of a group of men skinning a giant bird which appears to be an eagle is being circulated among Sri Lankan facebook users.
The purpose of the post is to identify the inhumane perpetrators engaged in that brutal activity which is a punishable offence as per the Penal Code of Sri Lanka.
The photo demonstrates a disturbing sight of the live eagle skinned. A closer look discloses its cropped feet are standing close by it while the brutal group is enjoying the plight of the animal.
According to the article 22 of the forest conservation ordinance, the executors of the gruesome act can be punished for violating the stated exemptions under the 4th chapter- Protection of Forest and Forest Produce.
Environmentalists and animal rights activists in Freedom Foundation and Let Them LIVE ask for public assistance to identify this group in order to bring them before the law of the Island.
