The Joint Management Council appointed to formulate laws pertaining to human trafficking will convene in Sri Lanka today.
The third law enforcement Joint Management Group on People Smuggling will commence in Colombo today to foster regional cooperation and progress counter people smuggling efforts across Asia.
The session will conclude on Thursday.
Member countries include Australia, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan and India. The Police Headquarters issuing a communiqué said Indonesia, Malaysia, Maldives, Myanmar, Thailand, Bangladesh, Pakistan and Vietnam will also participate in the meeting.
Australia and Sri Lanka will co-host the session. Minister of Law and Order Sagala Ratnayake and Inspector General of Police NK Ilangakoon are also due to participate in the meeting.
