The United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights Prince Zeid Ra’ad Al Hussein is due to deliver a special statement on Sri Lanka tomorrow at the 31st session of the UN Human Rights Council.
The High Commissioner’s statement will be based on observations made during his visit to Sri Lanka.
Minister Mahinda Samarasinghe believes the statement on Sri Lanka will take a positive tone.
The Minister added the High Commissioner will comment on the progress achieved in Sri Lanka through the formation of a national government.
The UNHRC postponed the report on Sri Lanka to September this year in a goodwill gesture.
It is believed that the UNHRC vote will go in favor of Sri Lanka.
