The sacred remains of deceased Asgiri Chapter Chief Prelate Most Venerable Galagama Sri Aththadassi Thera are scheduled to be taken to the Asgiri Chapter Temple this afternoon.

Asgiri Chapter Sangha Councilor, Ven.Medagama Dhammananda told our news team that a decision with regard to the date of the cremation would be made today.

Asgiri Chapter Chief Incumbent passed away last night after his admission to the Kandy hospital. The thera had collapsed in a bathroom at the temple earlier in the day and was admitted for treatment. 

Hospital Director Dr. R. M. S. Ratnayake told our news team that the prelate had passed away due to sudden heart failure.

The 93-year old Thera was appointed as the 21st Chief Prelate of the Asgiriya Chapter on May 8th, 2015 following the death of Chief Prelate Most Venerable Udugama Sri Buddharakkitha on April 8th, 2015.
