Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalitha Jayaram has requested Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to take measures to solve the issues faced by Indian fishermen in Sri Lanka.

Indian media reported the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister wrote to Premier Modi once again seeking the immediate release of 96 fishermen detained in the island.

96 Indian fishermen and 82 boats are currently in Sri Lankan custody.
