A special meeting concerning the sudden power outage was held at Temple Trees yesterday afternoon under the patronage of Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe.
The Minister of Power and Renewable Energy, its Deputy Minister, the Ministerial Secretary and the Chairman of the CEB also participated in the meeting.
PM assured that measures will be taken to present a detailed explanation to parliament on the 23rd of this month.
The Premier further stressed that the country is suffering the consequences of not implementing long term plans for the generation of power.
Meanwhile, a police investigation is currently underway with regard to the incident where a transformer exploded at the Biyagama Grid Substation yesterday.
The investigation commenced following a complaint lodged by the substation’s deputy engineer to the Sapugaskanda Police.
Accordingly, a group of crime scene inspectors and officers from the Department of Government Analyst’s inspected grid.
Sapugaskanda Police have presented facts relating to the incident to the Mahara Magistrate’s court.
