Minister of Power and Renewable Energy Ranjith Siyambalapitiya assured that the power cuts experienced island wide will come to an end by tomorrow.
He said that the Norochcholai Coal Power Plant will be restored, and filling up of water tanks will soon commence. This will fill the gap of 400 megawatts power generation, he said.
Norochcholai contributes 900 Mega Watts to the National Grid.
Meanwhile, a statement from the Ministry of Power and Renewable Energy stated that a seven and half hour power cut would take place today and tomorrow.
Group1 will experience a power cut from 7.00am to 12.30pm and 6.00pm to 8.00pm while Group 2 will experience a power cut from 12.30pm to 6.00pm and 8.00pm to 10.00pm. Visit HiruNews's 'Power Cut To Continue For Next Two Days' story for the full time table.
Meanwhile the committee, appointed by President Maithripala Sirisena to look in to the recent power disruptions, met last evening.
In addition to the Subject Minister, Ministers Susil Premajayantha, Patali Champika Ranawaka, Sagala Rathnayaka and Deputy Ministers Ajith P Perera and Eran Wickremerathna are included in this Committee.
