A plane crash in Ecuador’s jungle has left 19 soldiers and three crew members dead.

The military plane was heading for a parachute training when it went down in the Pastaza province in the Amazon region.

"There are no survivors. Our embrace of solidarity to the families and the armed forces. It is a tragedy," President Rafael Correa said on his twitter account.

The course of the crash is still unknown.
