Colombo High Court informed Kaduwela Magistrate today that a decree be issued after considering the bail application filed by CEO of the CSN television station, Nishantha Ranatunga.
This notice was issued today when the re-application for bail by Ranatunga was considered by Colombo High Court Judge M.C.B.S. Morayas.
The High Court Judge has stated the re-application for bail is accepted as it has no connection to Public Property Ordinance.
He has ordered the Kaduwela Magistrate to issue a decree on Ranatunga’s bail application accordingly.
Ranatunga was arrested in connection with several charges including the abuse of state property to promote CSN television and the launch of the channel with undeclared financial assets.
The other four suspects including Yoshitha Rajapaksa have already been granted bail by the Colombo High Court.
Meanwhile, it’s been reported that Ranatunga’s brother and Port Authority Chairman Dhammika Ranatunga has threatened the media personnel who were covering the case.
Our Court correspondent stated that journalists complained about the incident to Police Post at High Court and Keselwatta Police Station.
