Former Eastern Province Chief Minister Sivanesathurai Chandrakanthan alias Pillayan, who was arrested by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of police over the killing of a Tamil parliamentarian further remanded  until April 01st by the Batticaloa Magistrate Court today.

Attorneys representing Mr. Sivanesathurai Chandrakanthan submitted a bail application on behalf of their client when the case was taken up, however it was rejected by the court.

He was arrested Pillayan on October 11 over the killing of former Batticaloa district Tamil National Alliance (TNA) parliamentarian Joseph Pararajasingham.
