The Ministry of Power and Renewable Energy says that there were similarities between the explosions at the Electricity Sub Stations in Kotugoda, Minuwangoda and Biyagama.

Deputy Minister Ajith P. Perera said that both transformers which exploded were identical.

Meanwhile, Minister of Power and Renewable Energy Ranjith Siyambalapitiya added a team from the German Company which manufactured the faulty transformers are also due to arrive in Sri Lanka to conduct investigations.

A power transformer at the CEB substation in Kotugoda, Minuwangoda caught fire, following an explosion, yesterday.

The CEB stated that Negombo, Katunayake, Kelaniya and Ragama experienced a temporary power failure yesterday, due to this explosion.
