It has been revealed that the wooden sculpture of the founder of JVP Rohana Wijeweera which was discovered from a stone cave at Malwathuhiripitiya in Yakkala is estimated to be 25 years old.

The sculpture was discovered following a tip off received by the Police emergency hotline last evening.

Currently the sculpture has been taken into police custody.

Archaeological officers attached to the Pilikuttuwa sacred site have also inspected the sculpture, and have confirmed that the sculpture would date back to 25 years.

Police suspect that someone may have concealed the wooden sculpture in the stone cave.
