The report, from the Cabinet subcommittee on the prevailing power sector issues, that was to be handed to the President, has been postponed. 

It had been stated earlier by the minister of Power and Renewable Energy Ranjith Siyambalapitiya that the report would be handed over to the president today. However the report has not been completed yet.

Meanwhile Deputy Subject minister Ajith P Perera told our news team the Cabinet Sub committee will meet this evening to arrive at a conclusion with regard to the matter.

At the same time, certain short term recommendations that should be carried out with regard to the national power grid have already been initiated. 

Deputy Minister Ajith P Perera further explains about the short term solutions proposed by the foreign experts after they evaluated the country’s power sector recently.

Cabinet Sub Committee Report On Island-Wide Power Outage To President Today


The Cabinet Analysts Sub Committee which was appointed to investigate into the island-wide power outage is scheduled to submit its committee report to President Maithreepala Sirisena today.

The Minister of Power and Renewable Energy, Ranjith Siyambalapitiya said that the summarization o the report finished on last Monday (21st).

The report also provides an insight on managing technical interruptions and disaster risk reduction measures of power and energy sector of Sri Lanka.

The sub committee appointed by the President includes Minister Susil Premjayanth, Patalee Champika Ranawaka, Sagala Rathnayake, Chandima Weerakkodi along with deputy ministers Eran Wickramarathne and Ajith P. Perera.
