Complaint to CID over Uduwe Dhammaloka Thera’s statement; Minister Sagala directs IGP to conduct an investigation
The Civil and Religious Organization Collective filed a complaint with the CID today requesting an investigation be initiated looking into the allegations made by certain factions that the circumstances of the passing away of Ven. Maduluwawe Sobhitha Thera was suspicious.
Having lodged the complaint, Ven. Ulapane Sumangala Thera told the media that the organization suspects these statements are made to achieve narrow political gains.
Meanwhile, Minister of Law and Order Sagala Ratnayake has ordered the IGP to investigate the recent statement made by Ven. Uduwe Dhammaloka Thera.
The Minister has also ordered a statement be obtained from Dhammaloka Thera.
The minister has issued the order following a directive from the President and the Prime Minister.
At the same time, the IGP has also been ordered to scrutinize a statement made by the Police Media Spokesman which referred to Dhammaloka Thera’s statement.
Forwarding a letter to the CID, Ven. Uduwe Dhammaloka Thera pointed out seven suspicious points relating to the death of the Thera.
Among them are: the misplacement of medical reports and the late Sobhitha Thera being discharged from the hospital following a successful heart surgery.
Dhammaloka Thera has requested that an honest and unbiased investigation be carried out to shed light on such matters.
At the same time, addressing another media conference, MP Kumara Welgama also said that the government should conduct a free and fair investigation into the allegations made by Uduwe Dhammaloka Thera.
