It has been decided to take several institutes facing various crises including the CEB and the Sri Lankan Airlines under the direct purview of Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe.
A senior spokesperson of the Prime Minister’s office stated that measures will be taken to place several ministries and state institutes under the purview of the Prime Minister.
Accordingly, the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Power and Renewable Energy as well as Ministry of Housing will be placed under the direct purview of the Premier.
It is reported that these steps have been taken due to the relevant institutes falling under strong bureaucracy, consequently interrupting their operations.
In addition, the institutes will be placed under the purview of the Premier, as their operations have decelerated, due to officers not supporting the activities of the government.
Accordingly, the Ministry of External Affairs, which faced similar issues in the recent times, was taken under the direct purview of the Prime Minister, consequently resolving several problems.
In addition, steps were taken to transfer several responsibilities overseen by the Ministry of External Affairs to the Ministry of Development Strategies and International Trade.
