Several meetings of the Sri Lanka Muslim Congress senior members have been scheduled for the upcoming days to discuss with regard to the means of distributing responsibilities of the congress.
A senior spokesperson of the party told our news team that the discussions will be held to resolve the disputes within the party.
Recent reports have claimed that the SLMC is currently facing a crisis.They also revealed that a member who criticized the party leadership has been removed from his position.
Reports further claimed that Hassan Ali, who holds the General Secretary position of the party, also bears critical opinion concerning the party leadership.
In addition, internal sources have revealed that measures have been taken to curtail the powers of the General Secretary.
Accordingly, he is banned from representing the party and collaborating with the Elections Commissioner.
When our news team enquired from the Deputy General Secretary of the party Nisam Kariyappar concerning the crisis faced by the SLMC, he stated that the problem could be resolved following the upcoming meeting of the party’s Executive Board.
