The Minister of Megapolis and Western Development Patali Champika Ranawaka says the Urban Development Authority had no connection to the removal of the walking track in Wattala.

Minister Ranawaka stated this during a ceremony held in Kottawa to inaugurate the Kottawa Town development program this morning.

The 450 meter long walking track in Wattala had been removed by agroup using Backhoe machines on Saturday night.

The track was constructed by the now defunct Economic Development Ministry in 2013. The project cost 80 million rupees.

Meanwhile Minister John Amaratunga stated that the Urban Development Authority was in fact instructed to remove the walking path.

Addressing the gathering this morning at the Kottawa Town Development inauguration, minister Ranawaka said this walking path is not the property of Minister Amaratunga’s ministry.
