The Colombo Chief Magistrate Gihan Pilapitiya severely warned former chairman of the Walallawita Pradeshiya Sabha Udeni Athukorala for making a telephone call in Court today.
Athukorala made the telephone call while he was in Court appearing for a bribery allegation.
When Questioned why he made a call in Court, the former Pradeshiya Sabha chairman Athukorala said, that he received the telephone call.
Later the Magistrate ordered police to check whether Athukorala received a call.
The magistrate said if Athukorala had lied, he will be remanded.
The Former Chairman was arrested and released on bail later for allegedly obtaining a bribe of 1.5 million rupees to transport soil on a road within his Pradeshiya Sabha limits in 2013.
The Case will be taken for hearing in Court today.
