Six individuals connected to the inhumane killing of an endangered sea eagle have been remanded last evening.
Six in the gang of eight had surrendered to after two of the clique was arrested near Bambagala Bridge in Habaradoowa, Kaduruduwa area on 13th March.
The surrendered are residents of Wanchawala and Kadurudoowa areas.
Images of the incident, where the eagle was killed by skinning the bird alive, were posted on the social media websites.
After the incident was made public, the Wild Life Department asked IGP N. K. Illangakoon to take immediate action against the killers. Initiation investigations revealed that the eagle was killed near the Dabaragala Bridge in Habaraduwa.
