A petition has been filed with the Supreme Court against the Draft Bill of Right to Information.

Petitioners Bentharagama Indika and Isuru Buddhika Sri Nimal of the Information Technology Professionals Association have requested the Supreme Court to issue a decree citing that the Right to Information Bill is contravene to the Constitution.

The petition further requested the Supreme Court to declare its opinion over the issue. 

The current government has been named as the respondent.

The proposed Right to Information Draft Bill was presented to parliament last week by chief government whip, Minister Gayantha Karunathilaka.
