SLFP General Secretary Duminda Dissanayake said that action will be taken to suspend the membership of 10 heads of local government institutions who did not appear before the party disciplinary committee.
Minister Dissanayake said that they will be viewed as having vacated their post in the party on their own accord.
Former chairmen of Pradeshiya Sabhas of Walallawita, Attanagalla, Mirigama and Gampaha; Udeni Athukorala, Priyantha Pushpakumara,
Sarath Nandasiri-Ranatunga and Ranjith Gunawardana respectively had been summoned before the disciplinary Committee on March 29.
In addition, former chairperson of Maharagama Urban council Kanthi Kodikara and Boralesgamuwa Urban Council former chairman Aruna Priyashantha had also been summoned before this committee to the effect of their behavior that had violated the party disciplinary procedure.
At the same time, Moratuwa Urban Council Chairman Saman Lal Fernando, former Pradeshiya Sabha chairmen of Matale and Ukuwela, Kapila Bandara and Samantha Dharmasena respectively also did not appear before the disciplinary committee.
SLFP General Secretary minister Duminda Dissanayake said that action will be taken to sack this group of members for their failure to obey party rules.
