The Eelam People's Revolutionary Liberation Front known as EPRLF is considering removing the terms Eelam and Liberation from its Party name.

The new name proposed in Tamil Social Democratic Party.

The EPRLF is a Left-leaning group that was created in 1981 and subscribed to the idea of an independent Tamil Eelam state for years.

At one point, it worked with the LTTE, which spearheaded the bloody separatist campaign for three long decades.

Later, the ERPLF registered itself as a political party and embraced electoral politics.

However, a request is yet to be made to the Elections Commission to change the Party name.
