A complaint was lodged against Minister John Amaratunga at the Human Rights Commission today, in connection with the removal of the walking track in Wattala.

The complaint was lodged by the Evergreen environmental and welfare Association.

Chairman of the association B.I. Abdeen told our news team that Minister John Amaratunga removed the walking track, following a request made by a private housing construction company.

He further noted that Low-lying areas reclamation development board has also given its consent for this, adding that the police have not conducted a proper investigation with regard to the matter.

Accordingly, he stated that a complaint was lodged at the Human Rights Commission against the Low-lying areas reclamation development board, the police as well as Minister John Amaratunga.

Our correspondent revealed that the reconstruction of the walking track in Wattala has commenced.
