The Director General of Health Dr. Palitha Mahipala states that the Ministry of Health has decided to regulate private hospitals in the Island.

Accordingly, a special observation committee has been appointed under the guidance of the Minister of Health Dr. Rajitha Senarathna.

Meanwhile, fixed prices have been declared for 33 laboratory tests carried out in private hospitals including CT scanning and X-ray tests while doctors are bound to examine a patient for 10 minutes.

The Ministry notes that the objective of the regulatory observation is to provide more effective service at private hospitals.
