Former minister Basil Rajapaksa was present at the Special Presidential Commission of Inquiry on massive fraud and corruption (PRECIFAC) this morning.
He was summoned to the Commission to make a statement with regard to the investigations on the use of Air force helicopters for domestic trips.
The investigations have revealed Basil Rajapaksa in the capacity of the then Economic Development minister has paid 150.5 million rupees to the Sri Lanka Air force in lieu of the air trips he made with a period of three years.
Our correspondent stated that the former minister Rajapaksa is still giving his statement.
In addition, allegations have been levelled against former Economic Development minister Basil Rajapaksa for maliciously misappropriating over 26 million rupees belonged to the Economic Development Ministry, now defunct.
He was remanded in connection with this incident and released on bail later.
