A special New Year bus service is operational with effect from today.
The Transport Ministry stated that the special service will continue until April 25th.
It also stated that plans are afoot to issue temporary route permits to 3000 buses to be detailed on long distance journeys.
Meanwhile buses on the Southern Expressway will commence from Maharagama, Kadawatha, Kaduwela and Panadura.
At the same time, Additional General Manager of the Sri Lanka Railway Department Nalaka Bandara told our news team that 24 special trains have been scheduled to run from April 10th to 19th.
SLTB Chairman Ramal Siriwardana said that a special bus service is in operation for the New Year with effect from today.
