Indian newspaper The Hindu says that Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe has responded to the issues raised by India with regard to the Colombo Port City Project.
Addressing a media briefing held in Beijing city, the Prime Minister said that the Port City Project will pose no threat to the security.
The Premier further noted that Sri Lanka has considered the matter raised by India concerning the security.
He also stated that discussions were held with India concerning the matter, and that he is ready to hold further discussions in due course.
The Prime Minister also noted that he has held talks with former Presidents Mahinda Rajapaksa and Chandrika Kumaranatunga, prior to his official visit to China.
Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesighe stressed that Sri Lanka holds perennial ties with China.
In response to a question posed by a reporter, the Premier stated that China has made no request to establish a military camp in Sri Lanka, so far.
However, he further noted that the security ties with China as well as India will be continued with no interruptions.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe joined a special media briefing convened at Temple Trees this afternoon.
Addressing the media, the Premier stated that the country will reach an economic agreement with India before the end of the year, in addition to reaching a free trade agreement with China.
