The discussion between Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe and the Port trade unions over several demands including the New Year’s bonus failed this morning.

Port trade unions federation joint convener Lal Bangamuwage told our news team the prime minister agreed to reimburse the 4000 rupees which was deducted earlier frmo the New Year Bonus.

However he said solutions were not given to the other four demands including to stop political revenge and privatization.

He said therefore the fast that began last evening will continue on.

It has been reported that 20 to 30 ships have been docked outside Colombo port due to the strike.

The federation stated that the port has already lost around 920 million rupees due to the strike that started six days ago.
