An attempt of land measuring to acquire for the military purpose was intercepted by some politicians and owners of the lands in Jaffna.
The measurement processes were carried out in the area of Aanaikoddai in Jaffna. The officials of the survey department went to the place to measure 16 extent lands which belong to public on Monday (April 11).
Afterward, the owners of the lands, their relations, Member of Parliament Sritharan, and Members of Northern Provincial Council Sivajilingam, Kajatheepan and Vinthan had congregated there and intercepted the operation. And they presented a letter on which referring the lands belong to public.
The land owners pointed out that, the unacceptable measures of the government was carried out to confiscate the lands for the military purpose.
