The Deputy Minister of Power and Renewable Energy Ajith P Perera says that the third phase power generating plant at Norochcholai has not been operative since yesterday.

It was made clear that the power supply had not been hindered.

The third phase plant generates 300 mega watts to the national grid.

The deputy minister said the capacity of the first phase of the plant has also malfunctioned.

He said however the fault will be repaired within the next three days.

A tender has been called to purchase 55 mega watts from private electricity producers to deal with the prevailing power crisis.
