The police have arrested 130 motorists for driving under the influence of alcohol following special operations launched in view of the festive season.
The Police has requested the public to exercise caution while driving during the New Year season.
The Police Media Unit noted that there is an increase in accidents reported during the festive season. Meanwhile, a special island-wide operation to crackdown on drunk drivers is underway.
The Police commenced the programme on the 10th of this month and have arrested 818 drivers under the influence thus far. The Police noted that majority of those arrested are motorcyclists.
The special island wide programme will conclude on the 20th of this month.
