Engineers at the Ceylon Electricity Board says they reject reports claiming that there were long power cuts in several areas during the Sinhala and Tamil New Year.

The President of the union Athula Wanniarachchi said power was cut for a brief period of time due to maintenance work.

However, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe has called for a report on the power outages that took place during the New Year.
