A special meeting is scheduled to take place between President Maithripala Sirisena and the Chief Minister of Northern Province C.V. Vigneswaran tomorrow.

It is reported that Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe will also participate in the meeting which will be held at the Presidential Secretariat.

According to the Northern Provincial Chief Minister C.V. Vigneswaran, the objective of the meeting is to discuss with regard to the problem of lands in the north.

The Chief Minister of the Northern Provincial council noted that the President has made a pledge, the lands of the northern people would not be acquired for any purpose by the government.

He further noted that, based on this belief, he would participate in the impending meeting.

The Chief Minister also intends to discuss the preparation of permanent policies for the resettlement process.

Meanwhile, Opposition Leader R Sampanthan says that the Government and International Community having accepted that a Political Solution was needed for the National Issue, shows that there was a fair reason behind the war.

He stated this while addressing an event organized by the TNA in Kilinochchi yesterday.
