A Taliban attack on the Afghan capital of Kabul on Tuesday has left 28 dead and over 300 wounded.

The Taliban was targeting a security team that protects government VIPs, Afghan police has said.

Despite the target, most of the victims were civilians -- including women and children, Interior Ministry spokesman Sediq Sediqi said.
