Eight Treasure Hunters Arrested In Polonnaruwa

Police have arrested eight treasure hunters who were carrying out excavations in Aralganwila-Kudawewa area in Polonnaruwa police division yesterday (20). These suspects were arrested during a raid Police conducted, on the basis of a tip-off they have received.

The suspects are residents of Waththegama, Kithulgala and Kekirawa; aged 30, 32 and 42 years.

They are to be produced before Polonnaruwa Magistrate today (21st).

Polonnaruwa Police is carrying out further investigations into the incident.
