Economics Affairs Subcommittee Headed by PM to Take Final Decision on Taxes Including VAT

It has been decided that the final decision on taxes including VAT will be taken by the Economics Affairs subcommittee headed by Prime Minister Ranil Wickramasingha.

A senior spokesperson at the Prime Ministers office stated that President Maithripala Sirisena will be made aware of all the decisions taken by the Economics affairs subcommittee.

The spokesperson further stated that taxes will not be imposed in a manner that inconveniences the general public.

He reiterated that the finance Ministry and other institutions must take decisions only after discussing with the Economics affairs subcommittee.
