The new Inspector General of Police (IGP) Pujith Jayasundera said that police officers should distance themselves from three things to restore the identity and the dignity of Sri Lanka Police Service.

The newly appointed Inspector General of Police Pujith Jayasundara says all police officers must be rid of malpractices when acting against fraud and corruption.

IGP Jayasundara expressed these views at a special reception held at the Police Headquarter today where he assumed duties.

The new IGP said it was the responsibility of all police officers to act in a manner in which they will not be disparaged by the public.

IGP Jayasundara stated if police officers are found guilty of violating the law, action will be taken against them regardless of their designations.

The Inspector General of Police said he will commit to the welfare of police officers who will faithfully implement their duties.
