Northern Provincial Council passes the resolution demanding a separate province for Tamil Speaking people

The resolution demanding a separate province for Tamil speaking people was passed today by the Northern Provincial Council.

The resolution was presented by the TNA and, was voted against, only by the two members who represent the UPFA.

The resolution has also proposed to form the new province by merging the North and the East. 

It is reported that this resolution will be presented to Opposition leader R. Sampandan on April 28th.
