Inquiring In To The FR Petition Against Fonseka Postponed Till 28th

The Supreme Court (SC) decided to postpone for the day after tomorrow the petition that was filed against to nullify the Appointment of Minister Sarath Fonseka as a United National Party (UNP) Parliamentarian.

The petition, which was filed by the former Southern Provincial member Attorney-At-Law Ajith Prassana was inquired today.

The petitioner argued that Fonseka was not a candidate of the UNP and therefore it violated the people's franchise rights to appoint him as a MP of the party.

Seven persons including Fonseka, UNP General Secretary Kabir Hashim, Elections Commissioner Mahinda Deshapriya and General Secretary of the Parliament are among the respondents of the case.
