Amnesty+period+granting+the+opportunity+to+hand+in+fire+arms+issued+for+sports

The Defence Ministry says that opportunity has been granted to hand in fire arms to the nearest police station or divisional secretariats office which has been issued for sporting events during the amnesty period.

Following the end of the amnesty period on the 6th of May, a search operation for illegal fire arms will be implemented in the island.

The Ministry of Defence adds that currently the programme for handing in fire arms has been successful.

The amnesty period for handing in fire arms was declared by the Ministry of Defence from the 25th of April to the 6th of May.
