Man arrested for threatening the President

An individual who had threatened President Maithripala Sirisena via social media has been arrested.

The police media spokespersons office noted that the suspect was arrested by the CID when he arrived in Sri Lanka from Malaysia last night.

The suspect is a resident of the Yakkala area and had arrived in the island upon extradition.

The suspect is to be produced before the Colombo Chief Magistrate’s court today.
