TID releases Secretary of Youth Front of Tamil Arasu Party from its detention

The TID has released from its detention Secretary of the Youth Front of the Tamil Arasu Party of the Mannar District S. Sivakaran. 

He was arrested recently under the PTA and was released yesterday after recording a statement.

A TID spokesman said that several suspects were arrested from the North during the last few days. The individuals had supposedly kept in contact with LTTE affiliated international organizations. 

Sivakaran was also arrested on the same charges.

The TID stated that a former commander of the Charles Anthony Brigade of the LTTE,  Kanakapillai Sivamoorthi alias Nagulan will be detained for further questioning.

A few days ago, the TID arrested a suspect, Ram, who was a former commander of the LTTE. 

It was following information disclosed by Ram, the TID later arrested Nagulan from Kopay in Jaffna.

The TID has also identified that Nagulan has not undertaken any rehabilitation during the post war period.

The spokesman also stated that several other suspects will be arrested based on tips offs that the TID received.
