Police Attack State University Medical Students With Tear Gas

Medical students of Sri Lanka's state universities took to the Colombo streets today demanding the government to close the private medical college, South Asian Institute of Technology and Medicine (SAITM) in Malabe.

However, the Police used tear gas and water canon to disperse the protest march near Lotus roundabout a short while ago.

Severe traffic congestion has been reported in the Colombo Fort area, Lotus roundabout and Galle Face Green due to the demonstration.
